This is a pro-bono volunteer position. Under the organization leadership, the Head of Finance will plan, organize, direct, and manage financial activities including budgeting, cash flow, expense reimbursement, matching gift management, and sponsorship. The role involves advising volunteers and leadership on finance issues and developing financial policies and procedures.

• Ensure timely and accurate budget analysis and financial review
• Recommend and develop policies, procedures, and systems
• Provide strategic financial leadership and support
• Work to improve ROE/ROA performance
• Optimize bank and deposit relationships
• Build and manage a finance team
• Stay updated on trends and regulations for compliance
• Align financial policies with organizational objectives
• Establish financial reporting systems and controls

Under the leadership of JerseySTEM, you will also define organizational structure, manage the finance team, participate in meetings, ensure proper finance procedures, and recruit volunteers. Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or related field, professional finance experience, management skills, and the ability to work virtually with a remote team.

Additional notes: JerseySTEM uses Quickbooks, G-Suite, JIRA, Slack. Access to a computer and WiFi is required. Commitment: 5-7 hours/week, minimum 12 months. Must be a New Jersey resident. This is a virtual, pro-bono volunteer role.
