Responsibilities & Expectations:

As a Sr Field Service Technician in our IPS PowerServe division, you will perform testing and maintenance on low, medium, and high voltage power distribution equipment for our commercial and industrial clients, and assist with leading teams in the field.

We are NETA accredited and perform testing under NETA standards to ensure reliability, safety, and efficiency.

We are currently hiring NETA III and higher to lead teams in the field.

  • Testing and Calibrations:
    • Instrument Transformer
    • Power Transformer testing - Doble, Insulation Resistance, Transformer Turns Ratio (TTR)
    • Cable testing including Power Factor, Tan Delta, VLF, Hipot
    • Circuit breaker & Switchgear testing of low, medium & high voltage
    • Primary & Secondary Injection Testing
    • Protective Relay testing including electro-mechanical and solid state
    • Continuity, Ground Fault
    • Power Quality
  • Troubleshooting, inspecting, start-ups, and data collection on: switchgear, circuit breakers, cables, transformers, protective relays, VFDs, ATS
  • Service & Repair: Inspections, diagnosis of issues, parts replacement, recommendations, and recommissioning
  • Safety: adhere to all safety protocols including LOTO
  • Teamwork: contribute to a strong team environment by assisting teammates in achieving mutual goals
  • Customer Service: communicate all information to customers clearly and understandably regarding issues and resolutions
  • Documentation: complete reports on the work performed

Don't have all these skills yet? No worries! We offer a comprehensive training program to help you gain the necessary skills and certifications. However, the following qualifications and competencies are required:

  • Associate degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Power, or equivalent military experience/training (Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, NAVY Seabees)
  • At least 5 years of relevant testing experience
  • Experience with relay testing, oil testing, infrared scanning, switchgear start-up up to 500kV, VFDs
  • NETA Certification (III or IV) preferred or equivalent skills to attain certification
  • OSHA 30-hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training preferred
  • Power DB experience is a plus
  • Valid driver's license and at least 3 years of driving experience with a good record
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to interpret schematics, manuals, and safety guidelines
  • Flexible working hours, overtime, weekends, and on-call availability

Pay Rate Details: $30.00 - $85.00 per hour
