Position Summary: The purpose of this position is to support a team of attorneys in insurance defense. The candidate will handle discovery tasks such as drafting and responding to Bills of Particulars, Discovery and Inspection notices, and Notices to Admit. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are essential to maintain relationships with insureds and ensure timely task completion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist attorneys with case research, including client employment, financial, medical records, and legal documentation.
  • Draft and proofread legal documents such as complaints, discovery requests, motions, subpoenas, and appeals.
  • Communicate with court officials and opposing counsel on behalf of clients and attorneys.
  • Manage attorney calendars related to scheduling EBTs and site inspections.
  • Handle discovery processes with minimal oversight, preparing responses and demands for review.
  • Determine necessary documentation for different litigation types and obtain it.
  • Understand and apply new discovery rules and verification procedures.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for trial, arbitration, depositions, and court appearances.
  • Conduct legal research using publications and databases.
  • Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrate ethical conduct and confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • 5 to 7 years of insurance personal injury defense litigation support experience.
  • At least 2 years of recent experience handling discovery responses for complex litigation.
  • Familiarity with NY Electronic Court filing system.
  • Professional time management and appearance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Trial Works, and ImageRight (A+).
  • Strong research, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Notary Public for New York State (A+).
  • Paralegal certificate or degree preferred.

The salary range for this role is $51,000 - $89,200. This may vary based on performance, education, experience, skills, location, and other factors. Total compensation includes base pay and potential bonuses.
