Georgia Military College is now accepting applications for a Director of Facility Operations. This full-time position is located at GMC Main Campus in Milledgeville, GA. The Director of Facility Operations is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the Maintenance, Grounds, Custodial, and Safety & Environmental Departments of Georgia Military College. The Director will assist the VP of Auxiliary Services & Facility Operations in all aspects of Auxiliary & Facility Operations. The role primarily involves maintenance oversight, operations, program management, and personnel management, including system and software management for databases and control systems.

Primary ResponsibilitiesAdministration
  • Develops and institutes Facilities policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with other departments and outside vendors to manage special events.
  • Keeps the VP for Auxiliary Services & Facility Operations informed of campus-related issues and advises on actions.
  • Participates in the review and management of campus repair and renovation requests.
  • Assists Facility Managers in planning and coordinating auxiliary operations/support for events.
  • Plans, budgets, and oversees facility projects, including state-funded campus projects.
  • Ensures compliance with employee training, environmental, and safety regulations.
  • Maintains data for accreditation and compliance with federal requirements.
  • Reviews and approves departmental expenditures.
  • Manages leave and payroll for direct employees.
  • Assists the VP of Auxiliary Services and Facility Operations.
Maintenance & Operations
  • Provides expertise on HVAC, Life Safety, smoke evacuation, and other systems.
  • Coordinates with vendors and contractors for compliance and operations.
  • Leads scheduling and management of maintenance, repairs, and construction.
  • Oversees campus signage installation and maintenance.
  • Supervises staff and employee development.
  • Manages work order system and ensures data accuracy.
  • Operates campus equipment and vehicles.
  • Administers inspection and safety programs.
  • Schedules inspections and repairs with contractors.
  • Prepares facilities for environmental changes.
Project Management
  • Coordinates maintenance staff for in-house projects.
  • Acts as project manager for campus projects, including new construction and renovations.
