Job Overview

The Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County (“BXDA”), is committed to ensuring public safety and promoting justice for over 1.4 million Bronx residents. Our mission focuses on assisting crime victims and ensuring fairness for defendants, balancing appropriate punishment with justice. We are seeking experienced and enthusiastic Trial Preparation Level II staff for our Civil Litigation Bureau.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate with parties making FOIL requests, acknowledge receipt, provide updates, and draft determination letters.
  • Locate and retrieve closed criminal files and records to respond to FOIL requests.
  • Review documents, media, and records under attorney supervision to determine responsiveness.
  • Draft FOIL determination letters indicating records to be disclosed or withheld.
  • Input data regarding FOIL requests and maintain statistics using computer software.
  • Utilize Adobe Acrobat to merge, separate, redact, and mark PDF files.
  • Handle file and record pickup/delivery within the bureau.
  • Scan, copy, redact, and provide disclosable records upon payment.
  • Support legal staff as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsPreferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or high school diploma with four years of relevant work experience, preferably as a paralegal.
  • Valid driver's license with at least two years of driving experience.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent with three years of community-related experience, or equivalent education/experience.
Skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with court services and ability to work independently under deadlines.
Additional Information

Eligible employees may qualify for federal student loan forgiveness programs. Residency is not required. The City promotes an inclusive, discrimination-free workplace.

Compensation

$53,045 annually.
