Summary/Purpose
The Director of Information Technology is responsible for defining and developing the business systems technologies, infrastructure, security, and practices. The main purpose of the position is to ensure the IT systems, operational practices, and people are jointly effective and functioning to support the business's improvement goals. The position directs the implementation and management of existing and new information technology solutions to shape the organization's technical roadmap.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Elaborate and deliver innovative solutions providing value to the business and aligning with company goals.Lead regional (USA, Canada, Mexico, and Latin America) IT strategy and execution in accordance with global IT strategy.Drive continuous improvement initiatives; apply 5 Why and PDCA methodologies for incidents and improvements.Develop and manage IT governance including standard policies, procedures, and controls to ensure reliable and affordable operation of infrastructure and technology landscape.Mentor and educate IT management.Lead a team of IT general managers and contributors of 40+ individuals.Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions and efficient resource allocation.Analyze business requirements across departments to determine technology needs and ensure efficient and cost-effective solutions.Analyze and define outsourcing plans to deliver effective solutions (cost and outcomes).Manage high availability data center with established disaster recovery plans and periodic testing.Establish and monitor metrics to measure operational efficiency.Provide transparency of targets and progress to senior management through major advancements.Evaluate and confirm the feasibility of new and emerging technologies.Apply and enforce Information Security best practices organization-wide.Drive a support culture for Manufacturing operations and functional departments.Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has multiple direct reports (managers and general managers) and leads a staff of 45+ professionals.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 15+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including managing complex ERP implementations in manufacturing.
- Experience managing outsourcing and cloud service contracts.
- Experience overseeing large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; MBA preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and influence skills, with the ability to work with senior executives.
- Proficiency in managing IT systems including networks, business systems, compliance, and infrastructure.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, 5 Whys, and PDCA.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Primarily office-based with minimal hazards; substantial computer work involved.
- Travel approximately 10-30%, including to manufacturing areas requiring PPE.
