Position Overview

Provide daily process engineering support to optimize plant operations using real-time process data and plant process simulation, while maintaining a focus on operating costs.

Gas Plant Process Engineer

Occidental Petroleum Corporation (NYSE: OXY) is a major North American oil, gas, and chemical company with over 40,000 employees worldwide. We seek an experienced and motivated Plant Process Engineer for our Permian EOR Plants Business Unit in Denver City, Texas.

Essential Job Duties

• Protect the environment and ensure the health and safety of employees, customers, and communities.
• Support plant operations daily with process engineering expertise, using real-time data and simulations.
• Assist plant operations and maintenance teams in evaluating performance issues.
• Use control systems to maintain optimal operating parameters.
• Support studies and projects with process engineering expertise.
• Develop scope documents, P&ID's, PFD's, and control narratives for large projects.
• Incorporate Process Safety and Risk Management principles in all work.
• Participate in PHA's and MOC programs.
• Develop operating procedures and train engineers and operators.
• Support construction, participate in PSSR's, and assist with startup activities.
• Maintain technical expertise through ongoing training and individual effort.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably Chemical Engineering.
• At least five years of experience in gas plant operations, processing technologies, control elements, and maintenance.
• Strong commitment to safety in engineering design and operations.
• Effective communication skills across multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, gas plant simulation software (ProMax, HYSYS), and technical analysis tools.
• Knowledge of industry codes, standards, and safety management systems.

Additional Desired Qualifications

• Knowledge of reliability engineering, corrosion principles, project management, procurement, and vendor relations.
