Responsibilities

Summit Oaks Hospital, a 126-bed private acute care hospital and chemical dependency treatment center located in a picturesque suburban setting, has been providing quality healthcare to adult, child, and adolescent residents of the northeastern USA since 1902. Our Mental Health Associate (MHA) position offers an excellent opportunity for energetic, motivated individuals with prior experience working with patients with behavioral health or addiction diagnoses. The MHA functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, role modeling, and monitoring patients ranging in age from preschool through geriatrics, depending on the nursing unit assigned. Current units include a 28-bed adult psych unit, a 28-bed adult dual diagnosis unit, a 22-bed child and adolescent unit, a 24-bed detox unit, and a 20-bed rehab unit.

Additional duties include taking vital signs, conducting educational groups, and responding to codes.

This is a full-time, night shift position working three days a week from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am with rotating weekends.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • B.S. in a health-related field with one year of psychiatric experience, preferably inpatient; or two years of psychiatric experience with ongoing education in mental health.
  • Experience in psychiatric inpatient settings for adults, adolescents, and dual populations is preferred.
  • Must maintain CPR, First Aid, Verbal De-escalation, and Handle with Care certifications, which will be provided by the hospital.
