Position Details
This position is considered Seasonal Full-Time, with an approximate start date in April and running through December, including some downtime during the off-peak period.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist Teacher with planning and conducting classroom instructional curriculum and activities that encourage growth of language, social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and communication skills.
- Assist in daily health checks of children.
- Assist in conducting and monitoring developmental screening of children, and in implementing Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) and Family Service Plans (IFSPs).
- Monitor the progress of individual children.
- Supervise classroom activities in the absence of the Teacher.
- Assist in preparing, maintaining, and presenting records, documents, reports, and reviews.
- Stay current on new educational practices, techniques, and objectives.
- Develop and maintain dual language in the classroom.
- Prepare children for transition into kindergarten.
- Help maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Provide children with experiences that develop curiosity, initiative, problem-solving skills, and creativity.
- Maintain clear, reasonable, and age-appropriate rules, involving children in the rule-setting process.
- Multi-task, manage time, meet deadlines, and remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Perform duties of bus monitor once trained.
- Maintain confidentiality of clients and records.
- Perform all duties in accordance with CC Idaho policies, procedures, safety practices, and Head Start standards.
QualificationsRequired
- High school Diploma or GED.
- Preschool Child Development Associate credential (CDA) or enrollment in a CDA program to be completed within a specified timeframe.
- Associate degree in Early Childhood Education (preferred).
- Current driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
- Pass physical, background checks, and state daycare clearance.
- Obtain Tuberculosis clearance, First Aid, and CPR certifications.
Preferred
- Ability to read, speak, and write in both English and Spanish in a business setting.
Physical Demands
- Frequently stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; smell.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 30 pounds.
Work Environment
Work in an office or classroom setting; may be exposed to electrical shock, fumes, or airborne particles; noise level moderate to high; work may be stressful.
