Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Director – Plant Operations, responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and repairs of power plant boilers, chillers, pumps, auxiliary equipment, water filter system, hot water generators, fire pump, emergency electric generators, and acid neutralization system. Schedules for power plant coverage as required by state law.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: including but not limited to:

• Assign work to Watch Engineers to maintain equipment in optimal condition.
• Ensure adequate shift coverage and coordinate with outside contractors for maintenance.
• Keep accurate records of logs and readings, and calculate monthly totals.
• Perform and oversee preventive maintenance and ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Order fuel and supplies, maintain chemical feed systems, and record test results.
• Participate in HR activities such as interviewing, performance reviews, training, scheduling, and disciplinary actions.
• Supervise staff performance to ensure standards are met.

Organizational Requirements:

• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to Lahey Clinic policies and guiding principles.
• Provide courteous interactions with colleagues and patients.
• Participate in quality improvement and mandatory education activities.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED; vocational courses desirable.
• Massachusetts 2nd Class Stationary Engineer License required.
• Thorough knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment.
• Five years experience in a 2nd class power plant, preferably in healthcare.
