Summary
The General Education teacher supports student progress through lesson planning, data sharing, team teaching, and communication with families. The role involves fostering academic and personal growth, ensuring student success, and promoting strong character development. The teacher also ensures students understand school-wide expectations and policies, and assists with arrival, mealtime, and dismissal duties.
Job Duties
Plan lessons and manage the classroom in an inspiring, rigorous, and urgent manner.Use State Standards as a guide for planning.Implement approved curricular programs including enVision's Math, TERC Investigations in Numbers, Data and Space, Social Studies, Science Kits.Design and teach Social Studies and inquiry projects.Communicate with families about student progress and maintain contact logs.Manage classroom communities and adhere to school-wide expectations.Submit weekly lesson plans aligned with the Scope & Sequence.Prepare substitute lesson plans for emergencies.Collaborate with grade-level teams on planning and materials.Provide quarterly performance and behavior reports to students' families.Coordinate with AIS and SPED specialists to support student progress.Participate in Child Study Team meetings to develop intervention plans.Meet all testing and data reporting deadlines.Maintain anecdotal and formal evaluative records.Engage in weekly team planning meetings.Attend all faculty meetings.Skills And Characteristics

Requirements
- Experience working in urban schools.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Master's degree in Education or relevant content area (preferred).
- New York State Certification (preferred).
