Job Description
A Staff Building Mechanical Designer will perform various phases of planning, analytical designs, specifications, and preparation of proposal and construction documentation and mechanical plans as part of a project team. This position will work on various projects with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients.
Perform assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques, including drawing sequence, presentation, system components, and refining rough sketches, following all company, client, and project standards.Produce complete PFDs and P&IDs from verbal or written descriptions from the design engineer.Execute basic formulas, principles, and practices, applying fundamental concepts and practices related to the mechanical discipline.Plan and develop drawings for production work, including problem analysis, design layout, and calculations for non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity.Execute mechanical design assignments, including sizing system components and refining rough sketches.Implement changes to designs or sketches, including redlines or mark-ups on ongoing projects.Analyze reports, drawings, and tests to plan and design projects.Interpret and incorporate design codes and specifications.Review design drawings for quality assurance, ensuring scope, budget, and schedule adherence.Perform calculations for layouts, equipment, wiring diagrams, and schematics.Manage revisions of project drawings and ensure project-related information is stored logically and well-structured.Maintain clear and concise communication with clients and team members.Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in drafting technology or related field with 7 years of related experience.
- Associate Degree with 8 years of related experience.
- 9 years of progressive detailing and design experience.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD and Excel; ability to learn new software.
- Advanced skills in 2D and 3D applications for engineering drawings.
- Strong knowledge of design, calculations, and systems.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced understanding of Revit and Navisworks software.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $110,000 - $150,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include insurance, disability, paid time off, wellness programs, ESOP, and 401(k).
Additional Information
This position is located in Denver, CO, with additional locations in Connecticut and Illinois. Travel is expected at 5%. The job posting remains open until filled.
