Role Responsibilities:

Plastering and Fireproofing require dexterity and speed. Responsibilities include coating internal walls, ceilings, and steel structures with various plaster/fireproofing products, ensuring quality and meeting project and customer expectations.

Plaster Tasks:
  • Apply coats of plaster to interior walls, ceilings, and partitions based on blueprints or instructions, using hand and power tools. Direct workers in mixing plaster and erecting scaffolds.
  • Spread plaster over lath or masonry base with a trowel and smooth with a float for uniformity.
  • Apply scratch, brown, or finish coats on wood, metal, or board lath.
  • Roughen undercoat with a scratcher to bond succeeding coats.
  • Create decorative textures with brushes, trowels, or by spattering.
  • May use spray guns/nozzles for application.
  • Report to lead man or foreman.
  • Fireproofing Tasks:
  • Mask and clean finishes.
  • Erect and dismantle scaffolding related to fireproofing activities.
  • Set up necessary equipment.
  • Read and interpret structural drawings.
  • Apply fireproofing products.
  • Perform maintenance on fireproofing equipment.
  • Report to lead man or foreman.
  • Accountability:

    Plasterers and fireproofers are responsible for the quality and safety of their work. They must work accurately within standards, plan tasks, select proper tools, and work safely to maintain a safe environment. Physically, they should be able to climb scaffolds, handle objects, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform various movements.
