The Office Engineer shall assist and help the Construction or Project Manager. The Office Engineer will assume design review of plans/specifications and inspection responsibilities when necessary. This person shall perform the following duties:

  • Document Control: Managing construction project documentation such as contracts, drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and change orders. Set up and maintaining project files.
  • Contract Administration: Assisting with the review, tracking, and processing of submittals, change orders, and payment requests. Ensuring that all documentation aligns with project specifications and contracts.
  • Cost and Schedule Tracking: Helping to manage project costs and schedules by maintaining accurate records of expenditures, progress reports, and forecasts.
  • Coordination and Communication: Acting as a liaison between field personnel, contractors, and project managers to ensure that all project information is up to date and communicated clearly.
  • Field Support: Supporting field personnel with technical information, project drawings, and specifications to assist in maintaining compliance with project requirements and standards.
  • Reporting: Preparing daily, weekly, or monthly reports on project progress, cost tracking, and any issues encountered.
Position Requirements

Requirements:

1. Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a Related Field: A degree in civil engineering, construction management, or another related discipline is required.

2. Experience:

· 3-5 Years of Experience: 3-5 years of experience in managing documentation and supporting field operations in water treatment and distribution infrastructure projects is necessary.

3. Certifications:

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Certification: A step toward becoming a licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Construction Certifications: Preferably, certifications related to construction, such as those from the American Concrete Institute (ACI)
  • OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Certification: Or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Water Industry Certifications (Preferred): Certifications related to water treatment or distribution, such as from the American Water Works Association (AWWA) or Water Environment Federation (WEF).

4. Knowledge and Skills:

· Understanding of Water Treatment and Distribution Systems:

  • Water Treatment Processes: Basic understanding of water treatment processes (e.g., filtration, chemical treatment, and disinfection) and the mechanical systems (e.g., pumps, valves, and pipelines) involved.
  • Water Distribution Infrastructure: Familiarity with distribution systems, including pipelines, reservoirs, pump stations, and metering systems.

· Familiarity with Construction Plans and Specifications: Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and technical specifications related to water treatment and distribution infrastructure.

· Project Management Software: Proficiency with project management and document control software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid) as well as standard office software (Microsoft Office, Excel, Word).

· Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, such as those from the AWWA, EPA Clean Water Act, and local Environmental Protection guidelines.

· Knowledge of Construction Materials and Methods: Understanding of materials and equipment used in water treatment and distribution projects, including concrete, steel, piping systems, and pumps.

5. Communication and Collaboration:

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to interact with contractors, field personnel, project managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with field engineers, contractors, and project managers to ensure timely and accurate exchange of information.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify project issues or delays and provide solutions in coordination with field and office teams.

6. Technology Skills:

  • Proficiency with CAD and BIM (Optional): Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software and building information modeling (BIM) systems can be beneficial, as they are often used in the design and construction of large infrastructure projects.
  • Construction Software: Familiarity with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or PlanGrid, as well as Microsoft Project or Primavera for schedule management.

7. Other Requirements:

  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail for managing and reviewing large volumes of project documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills for managing multiple tasks and project documentation simultaneously.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently to meet project deadlines, especially when multiple projects or responsibilities are involved.
