Join our team as a Senior Biologist/Project Manager at Surf to Snow Environmental Resource Management, Inc. (S2S). This is a full-time, salaried position with flexible location within the Bay Area.

We are seeking a motivated individual to manage and coordinate projects, lead biological fieldwork, oversee deliverables, and provide QA/QC. The role involves leading field surveys, overseeing permit assessments, and preparing reports on biological work. You will offer senior guidance on endangered species ecology, impact analysis, and permitting strategies.

The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator with proven success in client relations, negotiation, and collaboration with stakeholders including agencies like CDFW and USFWS. You should be a self-starter, growth-oriented, and enthusiastic about environmental protection in a collaborative environment.

Requirements include permits to handle listed species, or extensive relevant experience and skills that could lead to such permits. Experience with species such as CTS, CRLF, SFGS, GGS, AWS, and SMHM is highly preferred. Work will involve both field and office tasks, with regular travel expected.

Essential Job Functions

Lead technical surveys and monitoring for special status species requiring permits.

Perform field surveys, habitat mapping, wetland assessments, and species identification.

Author and review biological reports, ensuring high quality and compliance.

Interpret local, state, and federal regulations.

Coordinate fieldwork scheduling and execution as Project Manager.

Ensure project work adheres to budget and schedule constraints.

Mentor staff on species ecology and permitting.

Develop creative solutions to project issues, contributing to proposal preparations and departmental improvements.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include MS or equivalent experience in Biology or related fields, 7-10+ years of relevant experience, permits for handling listed species, and strong understanding of relevant regulations. Excellent communication, organization, and technical skills are essential. Willingness to travel and a valid driver's license are required.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degrees, additional permits, experience with wetlands delineation, PMP certification, and active memberships in environmental organizations are preferred.
