Position OverviewYMC is seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the successful delivery of multiple projects within the Energy, Transmission, and Distribution group, with a focus on public electric utility infrastructure. The APM will assist in managing project execution, coordinating internal teams and subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with contract, schedule, safety, and budget requirements. This role supports the Project Manager and project leadership team in driving performance and maintaining key client relationships.The Assistant Project Manager will be actively involved in all phases of the project lifecycle, from planning and procurement to construction and closeout. This position will require periodic travel (10-15%) to project sites for coordination and performance monitoring.Specific Responsibilities• Support full project lifecycle activities, including planning, estimating, scheduling, execution, and closeout• Assist in monitoring project performance related to cost, schedule, safety, and quality• Coordinate with stakeholders, subcontractors, and field personnel to ensure efficient project execution• Assist with contract administration and ensure contractual obligations are met• Support project financial tracking, including invoice review, cost control, and budget variance analysis• Participate in project reporting and help prepare updates for internal leadership and clients• Assist with sourcing, reviewing, and managing subcontractors and vendor contracts• Support change management processes, including documentation and negotiation of change orders• Help identify project risks and assist in developing mitigation and recovery strategies• Collaborate with project controls, construction management, and engineering teams to ensure alignment across all project elements• Maintain professional communication with clients, regulatory agencies, and project partners• Contribute to internal staffing coordination, procurement processes, and project documentation• Ensure all activities support environmental, safety, and compliance standardsQualifications• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field required; master's degree preferred• 8-12 years of relevant experience in infrastructure or public utility project management support• Project Management Professional (PMP) or Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification preferred• Experience with government or technical infrastructure projects strongly preferred• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera)• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team• Willingness to travel up to 15% to project sites• Valid driver's license required
