- It is mandatory to work Wednesday through Sunday, but it may also include some Mondays and Tuesdays
Interview Process:
- Review candidate Resume (it must reflect your skills and recent Line Cook work experience).
- Schedule candidate with TSC Recruiter to go over the role and Cirque du Soleil expectations.
- If phone screen goes well, you will need to send a Knife Skill Test through video.
- Video and resume will be sent to the Head Chef for approval.
- If approved, you will move forward with the hiring steps, which take no longer than 15 minutes.
Primary responsibility
- Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces);
- Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff;
- Answer, report, and follow chef's instructions;
- Clean up station and take care of leftover food;
- Ensure the assigned dish on the table is topped up appropriately.
- Ensure that food comes out in high quality and in a timely fashion;
- Follows proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes
- Assists in closing the kitchen. Participate in the teardown and set up of the kitchen
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards;
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers;
- Help oversee prep cook's duties and tasks;
Requirements:
- Clear background check
- Minimum 2 years full-time experience at a high-volume restaurant or catering company as a chef-de-partie, demi-chef, or commis chef;
- Must be willing to assist in putting away deliveries, organizing, and cleaning the kitchen;
- Must be comfortable with menus that change daily, as well as cooking different cuisines;
- Experience working in the grill and sauté section is essential;
- Experience working in the larder section an advantage;
- Must be willing to assist in any other cleaning tasks, including cleaning different kitchen equipment (ovens, hoods, etc.) as directed by the chefs;
- Have access to their own knives and aprons;
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be 18 years of age or older to apply.
- Preferably able to obtain a Certificate of Fitness for Temporary Indoor / Outdoor Place of Assembly Safety Personnel (F-04) - Preferred.
Physical Demands:
- This job may require extended periods of walking, standing, bending, lifting, twisting and kneeling for up to 8 hours.
- May also lift up to 50lbs.
Uniform:
- Clean plain t-shirt or chef jacket
- Usual black pants or chef pants.
- Non-slip kitchen shoes with socks. (Safety shoes during setup and teardown.)
- Hair net or hair cover if long.
