ZAPATA is a full-service architectural and engineering company with operations throughout the Continental United States and Pacific. Our primary focus is the Department of Defense, Government, and Industrial clients. ZAPATA is seeking a Program Director to work in the Southeastern US.
Position Summary:
This position will focus on executing AE services under existing contracts and growing the NAVFAC Program. This includes delivering architecture and multi-disciplined engineering and commissioning requirements for new construction and the renovation, repair, or repurposing of existing facilities and infrastructure. It emphasizes enhancing relationships to develop opportunities and ensures successful project completion through leadership, oversight, and coordination with internal staff and external organizations.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Participates in the planning, designing, and monitoring of projects for substantial new construction, renovation, and improvement projects for real property facilities encompassing highly specialized or unique requirements.
- Prepares preliminary design proposal(s) and prepares proposal documents (i.e. fee proposals and schedules).
- Interacts with production personnel to identify and solve design issues and implement cost reduction ideas regarding our products.
- Works with Senior Management to define problem areas and implement product improvements based on client concerns.
- Negotiates with subcontractors for services related to projects.
- Ensures adherence to the Contracts Quality Plan.
- Performs checks of deliverables and audits of the QC process, as required.
- Establishes and maintains communications among project/program stakeholders.
- Keeps Manager advised of work status, workload, problems, and progress as related to work assignments.
- Provides overall technical direction and oversight of the assigned program.
- Works with Project Managers to plan assigned project(s) including scope, schedule, cost, safety, and quality aspects.
- Ensures assigned projects are executed within approved scope, cost, and schedule constraints.
- Monitors budget, schedule, and technical performance of projects to identify lessons-learned and develop required corrective actions.
- Serves as a technical consultant concerning facilities planning, design, construction, and/or maintenance for different categories of facilities; determines resources and performs long-range planning.
- Contributes to the development and execution of Corporate Strategic and Marketing Plans based on their client and industry knowledge.
Qualifications:
- BS in a specific discipline of Engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field.
- Professional Engineer or licensed Architect preferred.
- Minimum fifteen years of experience in facilities design, maintenance, and/or construction.
- NAVFAC and/or other DoD or DHS facilities design and construction experience a plus.
- Working knowledge of applicable design and building codes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of tools and applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience administering and managing design and/or construction contracts.
- Ability to have a strong rapport with clients.
- Strong written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
