Job Description Summary

This position performs skilled consecutive, first-person interpretation under direct supervision, following well-defined policies and procedures. The role involves limited independent judgment, with most problems referred to a supervisor. The position covers various languages including Arabic, Bengali, Portuguese, Burmese, Cambodian, Cantonese, Farsi, French, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Hmong, Japanese, Korean, Karen, Mandarin, Nepali, Polish, Punjabi, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese, or any combination thereof.

Essential Functions

Provides meaning-for-meaning interpreting.

Follows CyraCom's interpreter protocols, policies, and procedures.

Maintains confidentiality and adheres to interpreter ethics.

Attends all required training sessions.

Continuously improves vocabulary and subject matter knowledge in fields like medical, legal, and social services.

Uses standard office equipment and MS Office applications.

Demonstrates punctuality, follows directions, communicates effectively, works independently and as part of a team, and interacts appropriately with others.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Fluency in English and the target language.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Basic understanding of linguistics and cultural differences.

Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and react calmly in emergencies.

Attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to work independently and exercise initiative.

Commitment to confidentiality.

Effective communication with supervisors and colleagues.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operating office equipment.

Compensation

Starting pay is $16.50/hr.
