Position SummaryThe Test Assistant provides testing services to support the operation and maintenance of substation and electrical equipment under the guidance of a Test Supervisor, Project Test Specialist, Test Specialist, or Test Engineer. This role is part of a four-step progression designed to provide experience and training for advancement to the Test Specialist classification.

Position DescriptionThis is a four-step progression role, providing training for potential advancement to a Test Specialist. The level assigned depends on education and experience. Entry level (Step 1) requires no prior experience, with supervision to support testing and maintenance of substation equipment. More advanced steps involve increased responsibilities, including construction testing, maintenance, and technical assistance.
Qualifications for Test Specialist and Project Test SpecialistMinimum of 2 years related experience with a Bachelor's degree or 4 years with an Associate's degree. Must have knowledge of substation equipment, safe testing procedures, and strong computer skills for automated testing.
