Summary: This position is based in our Longview, WA, location and requires an on-site presence at our offices. The Software Tester will perform all levels of software testing for our internal development teams and software updates that potentially impact our existing system integrations. Projects consist of feature enhancements to our proprietary project controls software, system integrations between Vista by Viewpoint, BIS, Active Directory, Okta, Revit, and Stratus, and reporting via Power BI. This is a fast-paced environment with small teams focused on short interval cycles to incrementally build upon existing data and leverage the power of information to make more predictive business decisions. Software Testing is an entry position with potential development paths into Software Developer and Business Analyst roles.

Salary Range: $28 - $37 per hour (DOE), FLSA non-exempt (OT eligible).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes user stories, use cases, and requirements for validity and feasibility
  • Collaborates closely with other team members and departments
  • Executes all levels of testing (System, Integration, Regression)
  • Design and develop automation scripts when needed
  • Detect and track software defects and inconsistencies
  • Maintains and ensures proper documentation of defects and inconsistencies, and collaborates with developers on corrections
  • Provide support and documentation

Relationships:

  • Maintain proactive and positive relationships within the JH Kelly operating groups and teams, including shop and field craft personnel.
  • Foster positive relationships with customer representatives, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, safety, CAD/BIM, accounting, IT, and all project teams.

Experience / Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Business, or related field required
  • 1+ years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or a related IT role (internships or academic projects may be considered)
  • Basic understanding of software testing principles, including manual testing, test case creation, and defect tracking
  • Proficient in Scrum tracking or agile development management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, or Azure DevOps)
  • Familiarity with writing and executing basic SQL queries for data validation; experience with Power BI is a plus
  • Proficiency with SQL and/or Power BI is a plus
  • Exposure to construction management software, such as Vista by Viewpoint, is a plus
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a local presence due to the collaborative nature of this role, which involves frequent in-person meetings and on-site work.

Location:

  • This role is based in Longview, WA. We're seeking candidates who are already living in or willing to relocate to this area at their own expense, as this position does not support remote work.
  • Please note that this position does not offer relocation assistance. Candidates should be prepared to manage their relocation if not local.

Physical Requirements:

This office position requires the ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer. Candidates must have the ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and using a mouse. Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching are necessary. The role also requires good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling office equipment weighing up to 20 pounds. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, is essential.
