Description

Breadboard is hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer who wants to build the technology that powers the world's hardware supply chain. We don't hire for this position often, so this is a rare opportunity.

We're looking for a builder, not just a coder. A problem solver, not a ticket taker. A shipper, not a procrastinator. There are plenty of the latter, but we're after the former. We've built a very small team of exceptional engineers, and we'd be thrilled for you to join us.

This role pays between $150,000-$200,000 depending on your skills and experience, plus stock options in a fast-growing company and comprehensive health benefits.

About the Role

At many companies, engineers are siloed into narrow specialties: front-end, back-end, devops, data. At Breadboard, we believe the best work comes from people who can see it all through. You'll work on high-impact projects from conception to completion, collaborating closely with our team to build solutions that are elegant, performant, and transformative.

Here are some things we've worked on recently to give you a sense of what you'll be doing day-to-day:

  • Built high-volume client-specific APIs for pricing and availability that process millions of requests daily

  • Optimized real-time data streaming to clients using sophisticated aggregation techniques

  • Implemented normalization algorithms for unstructured component data using LLMs

  • Designed mathematical models to optimize supply chain permutations

  • Created intuitive interfaces that make complex supply chain data actionable

As a manager of one, you'll drive end-to-end projects over focused development cycles. You'll set direction, take ownership, make crucial technical decisions, and ultimately, once situated and comfortable, ship without constant oversight.

What Breadboard Engineering Looks Like
  • We ship to production every week if not every day. We value working code over perfect code.

  • We favor strong communication and pair programming, never working in silos.

  • We write safe code. Our codebase leverages every guarantee TypeScript has to offer, and we're disciplined about using tools like Lodash to ensure reliability.

  • We have a robust CI/CD pipeline. Spin up a local environment immediately, push your code to a feature environment with attention to your branch name.

  • We don't have Product/Engineering barriers. We take ownership over the entire product and engage directly with the problems we're solving.

  • We are genuinely having fun. We believe in what we're doing and the technical decisions we've made to support our goals.

Requirements
  • Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript, AWS, Sockets, GraphQL, Redux, and Postgres

  • Experience working with large datasets (larger than you can run on your machine)

  • Ability to come into our Union Square office most of the week

  • Growth mindset when faced with complex, messy, or ambiguous problems

  • Care and attention to code quality, testing, and maintainability

This position is NOT for you if:

  • You think AI tools will replace skilled programmers

  • You're looking for a typical 9-5 job where you can coast

  • You prefer working in silos with minimal collaboration

  • You don't feel invested in building something that matters

About Breadboard

Every piece of technology you rely on—from your smartphone to life-saving medical devices—is powered by electronic components in ways we rarely think about. Yet the infrastructure behind sourcing these components is outdated, fragile, and struggling to keep up.

The global chip shortage during the pandemic exposed just how broken this system is, costing industries billions and bringing entire sectors to a standstill. With the rapid growth of AI, electric vehicles, and an increasingly uncertain global trade environment, the need for a more resilient, intelligent, and scalable supply chain has never been greater.

At Breadboard, we're reinventing how the world builds hardware. Our platform is redefining how components are sourced, traded, and managed—already powering hundreds of millions in purchasing decisions and ensuring the tech we depend on is built without disruption.

How to Apply

Please submit an application that speaks directly to this position. Tell us about yourself, what you can bring to Breadboard, and why this role is the right next step for you. Share examples of your best work and describe technical challenges you've overcome.

We're particularly interested in seeing how you think through problems. Tell us about a complex technical challenge you've solved and walk us through your approach. Show us your code if you can.

NOTE: This is a senior role requiring in-office presence. Please only apply if you are able to be in our Manhattan office and currently live in the New York Metro Area.
