The UBNL has been helping undergraduates kickstart their successful careers since 2013. Alumni from the laboratory have moved on to careers at places like NASA, SpaceX, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, and many more. It aids students in building the skills necessary to become an experienced engineer. Currently the UBNL has one mission, which will be delivered to the Air Force as part of its University Nanosatellite Program, and a Short Cycle Laboratory (SCL). The SCL is for newcomers and those who desire work in the laboratory but have yet to decide which subsystem to join.The successful candidate will help manage the overall operations of the UBNL. Tasks may include:
- Guide the UBNL leadership personal, which include the Chief Engineer, the Program Manager, and satellite subsystem leads.
- Work with the SCL lead on how to teach the students skills necessary to work on a nanosatellite mission as well as allow them to try out multiple different subsystem activities.
- Develop methods or research that incorporate highly specialized training in a specific specialty.
- Ensure that all reports and presentations are done in a timely manner.
- Mentoring of undergraduate students.
