Location: Amarillo, TX (Hybrid – 1 day/week onsite; future 3 days/week onsite upon conversion)

Contract Duration: 12 months (High likelihood of extension and potential conversion to FTE)

Pay Rate: $65-69/hr W2

Job Overview:

Seeking a Project Control Specialist to support cost tracking and forecasting efforts on major capital projects within Energy Supply. This includes projects in coal, gas, wind, solar, and battery storage. The resource will work closely with Project Managers to monitor financial health, submit monthly forecasts and accruals, and participate in routine project meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Track project financials including forecasting, actuals reconciliation, and monthly accruals.
  • Monitor and report on the financial health of capital projects.
  • Participate in regular project meetings (mostly virtual) to stay current on project progress and risks.
  • Prepare Excel-based presentations, charts, and reports to communicate financial insights.
  • Engage with internal teams and external suppliers (e.g., EPC contractors) to gather financial data and ensure reporting accuracy.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively to manage assigned projects and priorities.

Day-to-Day Expectations:

  • Early month: Focus on month-end close, actuals reconciliation, and submitting financial forecasts.
  • Mid-month: Attend project meetings, monitor project progress, and adapt forecasts based on changes.
  • End of month: Prepare for next cycle of financial analysis and reporting.

Team & Work Environment:

  • Supportive and collaborative team of ~20 professionals (mix of cost and scheduling experts).
  • Role is largely self-managed but backed by a strong team culture.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5–7 years of cost accounting or financial analyst experience, preferably in construction, energy, renewables, or oil and gas.
  • Strong Excel skills including pivot tables, charts/graphs, and preferably macros.
  • Proficient in SAP ECC for reporting and cost tracking.
  • Experience with forecasting, accruals, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a cyclical workload environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with renewable energy or large infrastructure projects.
  • Background in construction accounting, project controls, or financial analysis.
  • PMP certification is a plus but not required.
