The position exists to manage and coordinate the selective admissions process for various academic programs, ensuring that applicants meet program requirements and institutional policies. It plays a critical role in evaluating and awarding transfer credits, including military and international credentials, to support student progression and degree completion. Additionally, the role provides guidance to students, faculty, and staff on academic policies, transfer regulations, and program eligibility, ensuring transparency and compliance. By maintaining databases, compiling reports, and facilitating training, the position supports institutional decision-making and enhances the efficiency of admissions and credit evaluation processes. Ultimately, this position contributes to student success by streamlining enrollment pathways and providing accurate, timely academic evaluations. This position contributes to Olympic College's missionby ensuring equitable access to selective admissions programs and providing accurate, transparent credit evaluations that support student success. Essential Functions This role works as part of a team to assess and verify academic qualifications, particularly for transfer students, to determine how prior coursework aligns with the college's degree and certificate programs. They review transcripts and other academic records from U.S. institutions, evaluating course equivalencies and credit transfer eligibility. Using credential evaluation tools and databases, they ensure that students receive appropriate credit while adhering to institutional policies and accreditation standards. In addition to evaluating transfer credit, they play a key role in managing selective admissions processes for programs with specific entry requirements, such as nursing or allied health, by reviewing prerequisite coursework and ensuring applicants meet eligibility criteria. They work closely with admissions, academic advising, and faculty to provide clear guidance on transfer credit decisions and program eligibility. Additionally, they communicate with students to explain evaluation results and any additional documentation requirements, supporting a seamless transition into the community college system.
  • Direct the Selective Admissions process for various programs.
  • Maintain accurate admissions data management and program support to ensure compliance and accuracy of student records.
  • Evaluates and awards student credit by interpreting college and state regulations, ICRC guidelines, and DTA requirements, ensuring accuracy in assessing education from other institutions, military training, and international credentials while collaborating with various departments and organizations.
  • Independently advise and consult with co-workers, students, other OC departments and institutions about academic programs, transfer policies and procedures.
  • Establish, coordinate and use electronic methods for transfer credit intake, selective admissions and academic advisement report (AAR) review using current technology or via new implementations.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
  • 2-years experience in selective admissions, evaluations or other community college experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate Degree and two years' experience in a higher education environment.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions
  • Experience with MS Office 365 Forms creation and usage
Additional InformationPlease note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.This is a full-time classified position scheduled to work 40 hours a week, with a salary range of $56,880 - $76,608 annually. All classified positions will start their salary at Step A, when you have completed six months of probation, you will receive a 5 percent pay increase. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Washington Public Employees Associate (WPEA) Union.
