Program Director, Community School PS 213
Title: Community School Director, PS 213 New Lots
Reports To: Vice President of Community Schools
Hours: 35 Hours/Week; Exempt
Job Summary: The Community School Director will oversee all aspects of the development and execution of the P.S. 213 Community School model. Working from a strength-based foundation, the GSS youth and family development model addresses the engagement and achievement needs of students with the goal of achieving consistent educational focus and progress. This position requires oversight of in-school program operations, including individual, family, and group counseling, and family engagement activities. The Director will continually assess the needs of the school and coordinate internal and external resources to meet those needs.
Major Duties:
- Oversee the development and implementation of the Community School model at PS 213.
- Work with the Principal and school leadership to maintain a focus on results and tracking progress.
- Identify high needs students, coordinate with teachers to target interventions, and track and monitor impact of interventions.
- Supervise GSS Community School staff.
- Lead Community School Team and Collaborative Budget meetings.
- Work with Principal and School Administration on the Comprehensive Education Plan.
- Effectively link the school day to expanded learning opportunities.
- Administer and co-create improved whole-school operations and systems in partnership with the Principal and key DOE staff.
- Assess existing service gaps in the school and develop resources and external linkages as program needs are identified; build and coordinate relationships to foster strong linkages between providers and the school.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with DOE staff, administration, and GSS by developing effective communication mechanisms.
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings for various stakeholders including DOE staff, school-based and community partners, and parents.
- Plan and facilitate professional development opportunities for GSS and DOE staff that cultivate a positive school culture.
- In partnership with Parent Coordinator, conduct parent outreach and provide services for parents and families.
- Supervise overall program development and implementation of mental health services, counseling, youth leadership activities, academic support, parent involvement, and after-school activities.
- Meet contractual and funder requirements regarding reports, database management, and accountability.
- Work collaboratively with central office support departments, providing data and reports as needed in a timely manner.
- Represent the agency on relevant external committees, workshops, and gatherings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- BA required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in youth development programs and supervision required.
- Ability to engage in crisis intervention activities and lead various group activities.
- Commitment to a strength-based and/or youth development approach.
- Experience working with youth and families required.
- Experience in a school setting required.
