The Patient Service Representative – Float reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Patient Service Representative – Float supports the service area by checking patients in and out of appointments. This role will demonstrate exemplary customer service when assisting patients and guests. The schedule may vary, including different start and end times, and work locations to support staffing needs throughout NMG.

Responsibilities
  • Support medical clinics throughout Northwestern Medicine and be flexible to travel locally as needed.
  • Greet patients and guests, confirm their identity, and provide information related to their visit.
  • Complete check-in/out functions, update patient information, and register patients as needed.
  • Obtain patient consents/authorizations.
  • Collect co-payments, past due balances, and point of service payments.
  • Post payments, process billing, and perform end-of-day cash drawer closing.
  • Maintain a clean and comfortable waiting area.
  • Inform patients of delays or changes in appointment status.
  • Schedule appointments as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 0-2 years of customer service experience.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in healthcare settings.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Bilingual abilities.
