Visit Job SummaryWorks closely with Project Engineers to create mechanical design documents necessary for equipment production for custom designed electro-mechanical equipment.Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Participate with project teams to create design documents including, but not limited to:
  • solid models
  • drawings and bills of material necessary for equipment production, including limited component selection
  • Perform original design of products determining dimensioning and tolerance scheme independently
  • Prepare and release design document to manufacturing
  • Provide technical direction and consultation to other team members
  • Participate in equipment assembly, testing, installation and commissioning
  • Create and maintain mechanical design standards
  • Generate solid models for use in the manufacturing
  • Participate in the setup, testing, installation and commissioning of electro-mechanical systems, including generation of associated reports
  • Abide by company policies
  • Periodic domestic and international travel required depending upon customer and company business needs
  • In order to achieve business objectives, work weeks in excess of 40 hours may be required
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • AA or AS degree in Engineering Technology field or related experience
  • 3 years related design experience

  • Exercises judgment on details of work and in application of standard methods for projects of varying complexity

  • Designs a complete system, component, or process of moderate complexity
  • Independently applies standard business tools to assigned tasks
  • Independently prepares complete project documents related to numerous products/areas
  • Exercise creative and critical thinking in the design of moderately complex equipment
  • Subject matter expert in particular area(s)
Leadership Skills
  • Coordinates with other designers and members of other departments as necessary
  • Mentoring of other designers in a limited number of specific areas
  • Plans, schedules, or coordinates the preparation of documents or activities as assigned
Direction Received
  • Receives general direction on assigned tasks. Work is reviewed in accordance with departmental processes and procedures
  • Capable of prioritizing and organizing tasks to meet project deadlines
Communication Skills
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
Working Environment While performing the duties of this job on Wagstaff premises, work is performed primarily in an adequately lit, well ventilated, climate controlled general office environment. Close computer work is regularly required. The work usually involves minimal physical exertion. The noise level in the general office environment is usually moderate. This job may require occasional or more frequent interaction with employees on the manufacturing shop floor. While on the shop floor, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risks of moving equipment and parts, and other risks associated with a manufacturing environment. Because of this environment and associated risks, coordination with shop floor managers/employees may be necessary before entering the shop floor, and use of job appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing is required on the shop floor. The noise level on the shop floor is often loud.This job may also require occasional or more frequent travel to and work at customer sites. While at customer sites, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risks of moving equipment and parts, and other risks associated with a construction and/or manufacturing environment. Because of this environment and associated risks, coordination with customer managers/employees may be necessary before entering the customer site, and use of job appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing is required at customer sites.
