Position Overview

Manager, Accessible Transit Services is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing the operations of Valley Metro's Accessible Transit Services and related programs, including paratransit, RideChoice, travel training, ADA eligibility certification, and oversight of Reduced Fare and Platinum Pass programs. The role involves coordinating outreach to senior and disability communities and staffing the Valley Metro Accessibility Advisory Group.

The manager provides guidance on accessibility and ADA compliance across Valley Metro's services, facilities, and customer information. Typical duties include budget management, policy development, contract management, staff supervision, and ensuring legal compliance. The position requires experience in transit operations, policy implementation, and customer relationship management.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Business, Public Administration, or related field, plus five years of professional experience in paratransit and accessible transit services management, including three years in a supervisory role; or equivalent education and experience.

Additional Requirements

Background check required. Valid Arizona driver's license and a safe driving record are mandatory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage operations of Valley Metro's accessible transit programs and staff, including contracted services and ADA certification.
  • Develop operational procedures and policies to ensure compliance with laws and standards.
  • Oversee accessibility of transit modes, facilities, and customer information.
  • Review design and construction for accessibility compliance.
  • Manage contracts, monitor performance, and resolve disputes.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including cities, agencies, and contractors.
  • Supervise staff, including performance evaluations and hiring decisions.
  • Develop goals, policies, and budgets, and report to senior management.
  • Oversee ADA eligibility certification and stay updated on industry standards and legislation.
  • Manage departmental budget, procurements, and bids.
  • Serve as liaison to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in meetings, committees, and professional groups.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.Physical Demands and Work Environment

    Requires mobility for office work, driving, and site visits; vision for reading; hearing and speech for communication. Travel may be necessary. The work environment is primarily sedentary, involving sitting most of the time, with occasional lifting or moving objects.
