Job Overview: This position will work at the Main Lab (Corporate Lab) for Valley Medical and Wellness, located in Burnsville, MN. The Lab Technologist II is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the toxicology and molecular workflow to support and maintain timely and accurate testing. Primary Responsibility:

  • Perform instrument maintenances on LCMS, Architect, and GeXP.
  • Process a batch of evening samples through the toxicology and molecular workflow including loading and queueing of the instruments.
General Duties as needed:
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative LCMS data analysis and PCR/RT-PCR data analysis.
  • Perform and maintain assay quality control for all LC/MS/MS and PCR/RT-PCR testing.
  • Document non-conformances and corrective and preventative actions associated in daily workflow.
  • Perform CAP proficiencies as a part of standard patient workflow.
  • Clean glassware and laboratory workspace.
  • Manage Laboratory Inventory: conduct inventory, initiate orders, receive supplies, and rotate stock appropriately for cost effective use.
  • Prepare standards, quality controls, internal standards, and other reagents to be used in high complexity toxicology and molecular testing.
  • Perform specimen receiving actions in the LIS and organize samples based upon testing workflows.
  • Utilize knowledge, understanding, and proficiency in LC/MS/MS and PCR/RT-PCR methods to perform root cause analysis and instrument troubleshooting.
  • Perform data analysis, and technical review on a variety of analytical testing performed in the laboratory.
  • Process patient results through (LIS).
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
  • Recent (within the last 2 years) experience performing fundamental LC/MS operations, PCR/RT-PCR and Molecular Diagnostics testing.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and proficiency in LCMS and PCR/RT-PCR assay and instrumentation troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures and practices including standard precautions and hazardous chemical handling.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and clients.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time.Ability to work in fast-paced environment to maintain test quality and efficiency.
  • Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially with Word and Excel.
  • Experience using aseptic techniques, good laboratory practices, and good documentation practices.
  • Ability to maintain effective reporting procedures and control workflow.
  • Knowledge of CLIA regulatory practices or other lab accreditation programs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and proficiency in the preparation, processing and analysis of biological samples using LCMS testing, PCR/RT-PCR testing, toxicology and DNA/RNA extraction methods.
Required Education, Experience and Credentials:
  • Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university in chemical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology, or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a high-complexity CLIA laboratory.
Additional Position Details: (hours, locations, commute)
  • Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 4PM-12:30PM, Job location is the Corporate Lab located in Burnsville, MN
  • There is no travel requirement for the position as a normal part of work responsibilities.
