The IT Project Manager will be responsible for the successful delivery of project initiatives within the Portfolio and Project Management Group. This position will oversee projects that enable the realization of strategic objectives and tactical business goals for clients. The role requires a strong background in managing IT projects, specifically in areas such as software applications, system integrations, and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership: Lead IT projects from initiation to completion, which may include implementations/customizations of off-the-shelf insurance software, mobile/web technologies, system integrations, software upgrades, Intelligent Automation (RPA), and infrastructure (hardware).Multi-project Management: Manage three (3) or more projects simultaneously, ensuring proper resource allocation and schedule adherence. Projects typically span 6-8 months.Team Management: Lead a matrixed project team, resolving challenges related to resource and schedule availability.Schedule Management: Create and maintain detailed project schedules, ensuring accurate tracking and progress reporting.Time and Cost Reconciliation: Reconcile project team timecards and investigate variances between planned and actual time. Maintain and reconcile project financial forecasts and costs.Risk and Issue Management: Identify and manage project risks, issues, assumptions, and decisions; escalate issues as necessary in a timely manner.Communication: Prepare twice-monthly project status reports and meet regularly with project teams, stakeholders, and key portfolio managers.Governance & Compliance: Ensure compliance with project management governance standards and methodologies. Develop project artifacts such as charters, communication plans, risk management plans, and responsibility matrices.Support PMO: Assist in maturing and improving the PMO practice by providing feedback and support.Change Management: Ensure change management processes and tools are used appropriately throughout project execution.Required Qualifications:Experience: 5-7+ years of current project management experience.Track Record: Proven history of successfully delivering IT projects from start to finish.Project Management Techniques: Familiarity with or experience using effort-driven project planning techniques in MS Project.Project Management Competencies: High-level capabilities in planning, executing, monitoring, and controlling IT projects.Customer Focus: Strong customer service skills, with the ability to work consultatively and collaboratively while ensuring accurate and timely delivery of work.Financial Management: Experience managing project financials, including reconciling invoices, timekeeping, and forecasting project budgets.Preferred Qualifications:Industry Experience: Experience managing development projects in financial services or insurance companies, particularly in commercial property and casualty insurance.Vendor Management: Experience managing vendors, creating, requesting, and executing SOWs (Statements of Work).Leadership: Demonstrates strong leadership, with a calm demeanor under pressure and the ability to present difficult messages to stakeholders effectively.Technical Understanding: Ability to develop a technical understanding of involved systems and data flows.Certifications (if any):PMP Certification: Project Management Institute (PMI) PMP Certification is preferred.
Technical Certifications: Any relevant technical certifications are a plus.
