Head of Automation & Engineering Kingsway - Naylor's Equestrian Llp : Job Details

We are seeking a Head of Automation & Engineering to oversee a highly automated facility spanning over 1,000,000 square feet, equipped with machinery from various suppliers such as miniload, shuttle, GTP, Rotapick, sorter, and conveyor systems. The facility operates 24/7, delivering millions of units monthly and managing a global team of over 80 professionals.

The role involves responsibility for the entire automation solution of the distribution center (DC), including current status and future expansion plans. This encompasses electro-mechanical and logical system solutions, leading continuous improvements and evolution of the facility.

• Lead the automation strategy for the facility, focusing on expansion, maintenance, upgrades, compliance, renewal, and efficiency projects.
• Manage the Engineering & Automation team, setting goals and ensuring team development.
• Oversee the execution of automation and engineering projects, coordinating internal and external teams.
• Develop relationships with key automation and engineering suppliers, conducting regular meetings to align goals, SLAs, and drivers.
• Manage KPIs, SLAs, and budgets for the Automation & Engineering area.
• Ensure health & safety and compliance protocols are followed within the team.
• Identify and lead improvement projects, building business cases and managing investment budgets.
• Oversee system logic, including WCS process definition, PLC, control, messaging, and communication to improve operational performance.
• Establish and monitor automation and compliance metrics such as OEE, ROI, ISO, FEM standards.

• High-level degree in engineering.
• At least 8 years of experience leading teams in highly automated facilities.
• Experience with automated intralogistics facilities for retail.
• Strong team management skills.

Location: Permanent position at Kingsway facility.
