Salary: $19.11 - $20.68 Hourly Location : Hobbs, NM Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 2025-00030 Department: Grounds Department Opening Date: 07/01/2025 Description The Groundskeeper shall report to the Grounds Supervisor. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Plants shrubs, trees, and flowers; prunes trees, shrubs, and flowerbeds.
- Removes trash and debris from stairs and walks; rakes leaves, and mows.
- Waters trees, shrubs, and lawns; performs minor irrigation activities.
- Sprays for weeds and insects using unrestricted chemicals as required.
- Applies fertilizer; top dresses, tills, and re-seeds garden and grass areas.
- Operates large power lawn mowers, edgers, hand tools, and vehicles associated with ground maintenance and landscaping activities.
- Operates pick-up trucks, dump trucks, tractors, trucks with trailers, and forklifts for hauling purposes and for trash and debris removal.
- Performs minor maintenance and repair on equipment and tools as required.
- Shovels and removes snow and ice and places ice melt in designated areas such as sidewalks, pathways and entryways as required.
- May assist with the maintenance of parking lots and other surfaces and assist with installation and removal of outdoor signs and traffic/control barriers as required.
- May serve on various campus committees as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
- Some grounds maintenance or landscaping experience preferred.
- May require possession a valid New Mexico or Texas driver's license.
