This position follows a Monday through Friday schedule.

Purpose & Impact:

As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will perform vital maintenance and repair tasks to ensure our facilities are safe and operational. Your work will encompass carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, and general facility maintenance, contributing to our mission of quality assurance within HS/EHS programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out maintenance and repair tasks for assigned buildings, performing a variety of carpentry, electrical, painting, and plumbing work as required.
  • Install and repair electrical components, including lighting, outlets, and switches.
  • Fix and replace plumbing fixtures, such as faucets and pipes.
  • Complete carpentry projects, including the installation and repair of cabinets, doors, windows, and related components; ensure proper hardware installation.
  • Provide minor repairs and adjustments to heating and air conditioning units, as well as conduct routine maintenance.
  • Manage security by unlocking and locking doors and ensuring the safety of all facilities.
  • Assist with furniture and equipment setup for meetings and events; ensure accessibility and functionality of spaces.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and manage orders; receive and store necessary materials and tools.
  • Conduct inspections of buildings and grounds to identify maintenance needs and report hazards.
  • Perform custodial duties to uphold cleanliness and sanitation standards in all facilities, including restrooms.
  • Ensure compliance with safe work practices and participate in ongoing safety training.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff in accordance with our policies.
  • Execute additional assignments as directed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Technical trade school education is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of general maintenance experience, ideally in an educational or institutional setting.
  • Must pass a Level II background screening and drug test before hiring.
  • A valid Florida driver's license and certifications for driving organizational vehicles are mandatory.

Competencies:

  • Proficient in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Understanding of maintenance work methods, equipment use, and materials.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
  • Familiarity with basic electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions clearly.
  • Skill in establishing effective working relationships.

Physical Requirements:

The role requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift over 50 pounds, and to engage in activities such as bending, squatting, and standing for extended periods. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for qualified individuals with disabilities.
