Salary: $21.00 - $25.00 Hourly Location : Mount Vernon, OH Job Type: Full-time Job Number: 220000168 Department: Knox County Transit Opening Date: 09/11/2025 Objectives Under the administrative direction of the Transit Director, the role of the Executive Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the Transit Director and Management staff. This position helps to support management staff as they provide effective and efficient operations of transportation in the community. Essential Functions
  • Reviews and corrects daily fare collections and prepares deposit.
  • Receives, tracks, and pays bills.
  • Updates financial spreadsheets for ODOT reporting.
  • Generates contract invoices and tracks payments received.
  • Collects operational data and inputs in tracking spreadsheets.
  • Reconcile financial and operational data with reports.
  • Manage Drug and Alcohol Program paperwork.
  • Prioritize and track Director phone calls, emails, and texts. Send initial responses to emails and phone calls.
  • Summarizes communication and incidents for Director to review.
  • Provide email and teams updates throughout day on task progress as needed.
  • Coordinates Calendars for Management Staff.
  • Monitors signs on buses for advertising program.
  • Generates communication for Driver information.
  • Completes and coordinates new hire, FMLA, training, physicals and exit paperwork with Human Resources.
  • Monitor and track training and DOT physical renewal deadlines.
  • Coordinate plan for monthly safety meeting.
  • Assist with Fleet Maintenance communication. NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Job Standards Degree in accounting, business administration, or other related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Must meet and maintain all required licenses and certifications as a continued condition of employment. Must pass a law enforcement background check and other types of pre-hire checks, as necessary. Supplemental Information I. JOB REQUIREMENTSEquipment: Ability to operate a variety of office equipment such as, but not limited to, computers and components, copiers, printers, scanners, phones. Ability to competently utilize a wide variety of computer software and office suites. Individual uses appropriate personal protective equipment when necessary. Critical Skills/Expertise:

II. DIFFICULTY OF WORK Work consisting of complex, varied, standardized and non-standardized tasks requiring application of numerous laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Individual must be able to professionally address and work with potentially upset users. III. RESPONSIBILITY Individual must demonstrate multi-tasking and organizational skills. Individual must adhere to departmental rules and procedures regarding confidentiality due to the nature of information accessed. Individual makes choices or decisions without supervisory input on most daily activities, such as establishing priorities or making referrals to other agencies. Supervisor does provide general guidance, but allows the individual the ability to plan the procedures and methods to accomplish objectives. Individual must perform as a team player. Errors in work may cause inaccuracies in reports, records, or technical data resulting in inaccurate or incomplete information. IV. PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPSContact is with co-workers, employees from public and private sector organizations and the public. The purpose of these contacts is to guide and direct, check on progress of work assigned, coordinating services, and job development/referrals, make recommendations and handle questions about department, programs, and client concerns. V. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENTPhysical Requirements: Individual performs light work, which may require lifting up to thirty (30) pounds occasionally. Physical Activity: Individual performs the following physical activities: standing, walking, manual dexterity, grasping, talking, and listening. Visual Activity: Individual performs work where the seeing job is close to the eyes. Job Location: The minimum work conditions for the position indicate that the individual is exposed to both inside and outside. Individual is also exposed to noise.
