Only candidates who are permanent in the Assistant Civil Engineer title or those who are reachable on the Open Competitive (Exam #1101) or those who filed for, the Open-Competitive Exam #5015 may apply. The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Infrastructure, is seeking an Engineer (Specification) to join the Infrastructure's Specification team. Responsibilities include preparing contract specification books for infrastructure projects, coordinating inquiries and addenda during bidding, researching technical documents, updating specifications, proofreading, maintaining eFiles, and reviewing specifications and drawings for compliance.

Authorization to work in the United States is required. The NYC Department of Design and Construction does not sponsor visas. Applicants must meet all requirements at the time of application.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering and one year of civil engineering experience; or
  • A baccalaureate degree and a Master's degree in civil engineering.
  • Preferred Skills

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of City infrastructure, procurement policies, engineering standards
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6; ENV SP credential (preferred)
  • Valid driver's license and personal vehicle (optional)
