This is a hybrid role based out of our HQ office near Portland, Oregon. The expectation is for employees to be in-office 3 days or more per week, depending on business need. This in-office expectation is subject to change at business discretion.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Columbia Sportswear Finance & Accounting teams oversee the financial health and forward strategy for a portfolio of four global brands. These teams exercise expertise across Compliance, Credit, Financial Planning and Reporting, Tax, Treasury, Procurement, and Strategy. The organization is also driving innovation in advanced analytics and automated intelligence.

As Columbia's Credit Manager, you will manage customer account receivables and oversee Credit Department functions. You will direct the Collection Manager and Regional Credit Managers on collection activities, assist in credit and collection operations to increase sales, contribute to profits, enhance customer stability, and ensure prompt account turnover. You will identify credit risks and bad debt exposure.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Manage and assist the Collection Manager and Regional Credit Managers with delinquent receivables collection and facilitate timely order releases.
  • Lead a team, translating company strategy into team goals, monitoring progress, removing barriers, and supporting a high-performance culture.
  • Review customer accounts by analyzing credit applications, using external sources to determine creditworthiness, and establishing credit lines up to $5 million.
  • Conduct regular reviews of client accounts to monitor past due invoices and cash on hand, making recommendations on bad debt write-offs as needed.
  • Create process improvement guidelines to accelerate fund receipt and establish credit policies and procedures.
  • Prepare monthly reports for senior management showing potential bad debt, account aging, and comparative analyses.
  • Resolve credit and collection issues, overseeing difficult accounts and deciding on third-party involvement.
  • Maintain integrity of customer data and credit process manuals, set cash goals, and approve system changes to improve efficiency.

  • Numbers-oriented with knowledge of financial analysis, credit/collection techniques, and policies. Capable of analyzing financial documents, investigating data, and advising others.
  • Analytical, capable of resolving complex financial issues.
  • Driven for continuous improvement.
  • Eager to train others to enhance financial and credit risk assessment skills.
  • A skilled negotiator and decision-maker.

YOU HAVE

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
  • 6+ years of proven credit management and analysis experience.
  • Ability to provide detailed credit analysis, understand financial statements, and manage a portfolio of accounts, identifying risks and making strategic recommendations.
  • Thorough knowledge of credit and collection practices, and experience with deductions, disputes, and chargebacks.
  • Experience managing a team of 2+ professionals.
