Salary : $49,770.00 - $52,185.00 AnnuallyLocation : Palatka CampusJob Type: Full-TimeDepartment: Fine and Applied ArtsOpening Date: 07/08/2025Closing Date: 8/22/2025 11:59 PM EasternFLSA: Exempt Class and Grade FT Faculty (10 month) Position SummaryFlorida School of the Arts at St. Johns River State College is seeking a full time Costume Design and Technology Instructor with a strong commitment to teaching foundation level classes in a small and highly collaborative arts school environment. As one of two full-time instructors you have the opportunity to teach a variety of design and construction courses, mentor students during instructional lab hours, manage equipment and supplies and supervise safe professional practices in a theatre environment. Technical Theatre faculty work to support our production season consisting of six shows annually. Additional duties include student mentoring, assisting in recruiting efforts, departmental meetings, and committee work. More information about benefits can be found at Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis is a 10-month, full-time faculty position (full-time in fall, spring, and summer A semesters). Full-time faculty at SJR State are responsible for a combination of teaching, office hours, college service activities, and professional development as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (see ). Duties include, but are not limited to, the following.INSTRUCTION: Provide instruction and office hours as detailed in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.Employ diverse teaching methods to accommodate various student learning styles, various levels of academic preparation, and nontraditional students. Commit to continuous improvement of teaching and student learning based upon components of academic mindset.Use student engagement strategies in instruction.Provide accommodations to students with disabilities in a fair and timely manner.Be prompt and regular in attendance at classes and office hours.COLLEGE SERVICE: Provide college service as detailed in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.Instructional College Service - preparing for classes; grading papers tests, and other assignments; evaluating instructional materials; preparing instructional syllabi and class schedules; utilizing the Learning Management System; providing prompt feedback to students; referring students to support services; recording and reporting grades and attendance promptly; participating in assessment of learning; etc.Non-Instructional College Service - participating in department, division, and College planning, assessment, and accreditation activities; attending committee, department, division, and College meetings; participating in commencement ceremonies; mentoring and evaluating other faculty; participating in student activities and clubs; participating in College-wide programs and initiatives; etc.PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Participate in professional development activities as detailed in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.Teaching assignments are made by the dean or curriculum coordinator and may include daytime, evening, and online classes. Full-time faculty are also responsible for working with the dean, curriculum coordinator, and other faculty to coordinate and support their department, including the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, accreditation, and general effectiveness of the program.
