Job Description :

We are looking for mission-driven employees who are interested in working with a supportive team to help us change lives. This position will ensure that all children are receiving nutritious and delicious nourishment all year long. General Description: Cook all meals, prepare snacks, maintain quality foods and comply with all CACFP regulations and recordkeeping. Know How:

  • Minimum of one year experience as a cook
  • Ability to plan cost effective and nutritious meals.
  • Must complete all Standard Child Care Requirements:
  • To pass an annual physical examination.
  • Bi-annual Mantoux Tine Test.
  • Act 33/34 Clearances.
  • Six clock hours of DPW-Approved Child Care Training annually.
  • Annual training in first aid, water safety and fire safety.
  • CPR certification within 90 days.
  • Participation in outdoor and indoor activities.
  • May be required to have a Pennsylvania driver's license.
  • Must be able to lift 40-50 pounds.
  • Must be 18 years old or enrolled in a qualifying training program.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
Working Condition: Mental Demands require emotional control and the ability to navigate complex routes. Ability to remain calm in an emergency situation. Physical Demands require continual sitting, reaching, crouching stooping, pushing, pulling grasping and repetitive hand/arm movements. Frequent walking and lifting up to approximately 30 pounds. Ability to work indoor and outdoor in changing climates. Principal Activities:
  • Cook all meals and prepare all snacks.
  • Assist in the control of inventory, utilization and waste of food.
  • Using the most cost-effective method, ordering of food and supplies.
  • Receive deliveries; very for quantities and quality.
  • Assist and/or plan monthly menus according to federal guidelines.
  • Supervise clean up and ensure cleanliness of kitchen facility.
  • Recordkeeping for Federal Food Program as requested by Program Director.
  • Performs other duties as request by Child Care Program Director.
  • Performs all Standard Activities Required of Child Care Personnel:
  • Responsible for the safety of the children.
  • Understanding and implementation of emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Act as a role model for the children at all times.
  • Attendance at all staff meetings.
  • Attendance at all in-service trainings.
  • Assist as a mentor for new employees.
  • Attendance at parent conferences and at parent/child events as requested.
  • Supporting the program goals and the mission of the YMCA.
  • Assumes other duties as requested by program Coordinator or Designee.
