Presbyterian Homes is looking for a compassionate and spiritually grounded Chaplain Resident Intern to join our Spiritual Life team at Westminster Place in Evanston, Illinois.This part-time, year-long internship offers a unique opportunity for those seeking hands-on ministry experience in a vibrant senior living community. What you'll be doing:
  • Plan, lead, preach, and participate in a variety of worship services:
    • Sunday Vespers
    • Weekly devotionals
    • Services on healthcare floors
    • Seasonal and special liturgical services
  • Provide one-on-one spiritual support to residents in independent living, assisted living, and the health care center
  • Join weekly staff meetings with the Spiritual Life team to coordinate services and assignments
  • Attend resident councils, interdisciplinary care plan meetings, and other relevant forums
  • Facilitate or co-lead spiritual life programming, such as Bible studies, grief or caregiver support groups, and other enrichment opportunities
What you bring:
  • A Master's degree (M.Div., M.A., M.A.T.S.) in progress or completed in a pastoral field
  • At least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) strongly preferred
  • A heart for older adults and a calling to minister across traditions and backgrounds
  • Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately, including public speaking and leading worship
  • Strong listening and relational skills; sensitivity to the spiritual and emotional needs of residents and their families
  • Flexibility, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
