Position Summary The YMCA of Greater San Francisco is seeking a compassionate, organized, and culturally responsive Bilingual Intake Coordinator to support mental health access for youth and families. This position serves as the first point of contact for individuals referred to mental health services through our outpatient clinics, Community Resource Center, the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) school-based programs, Probation, and Family Resource Centers (FRCs). The Intake Coordinator ensures that all incoming referrals are managed efficiently, clients are welcomed respectfully, and services are initiated promptly with attention to language access and cultural humility. Job ResponsibilitiesIntake & Referral Coordination • Serve as the primary intake contact for all behavioral health referrals across multiple entry points: YMCA clinics, SFDPH-funded EPSDT programs, probation referrals, CRCs, and FRC partners. • Conduct intake interviews (in English and Spanish) by phone, in person, or virtually with caregivers, youth, and referring partners. • Assess eligibility, collect required documentation, and ensure completion of intake packets and consent forms. • Schedule initial clinical appointments and coordinate clinician assignments based on language, location, and specialization. Data Entry & Documentation • Accurately enter all intake and referral information into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and case tracking databases. • Maintain up-to-date referral logs and generate reports on intake status, timelines, and referral outcomes. • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Medi-Cal, EPSDT, and SFDPH documentation and privacy standards. Cross-Program Collaboration • Maintain communication with program managers, clinicians and clinical supervisors regarding caseload availability and priority placements. • Work closely with CRC and FRC teams to triage families in crisis and ensure warm hand-offs to clinical services. • Support school-based mental health teams with scheduling and tracking referrals from participating EPSDT school sites. Client Support & Equity-Driven Practice • Provide culturally competent and trauma-informed customer service to diverse families, including monolingual, immigrant, and system-involved clients. • Respond to inquiries from parents, youth, and partners with empathy and professionalism, navigating sensitive topics such as trauma, behavioral health, and family systems. • Translate intake forms and interpret during intake sessions as needed. QualificationsRequired: • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish • High School Diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, public health, or a related field strongly preferred • 2+ years of experience in a mental health, social service, school-based, or clinic setting • Familiarity with Medi-Cal, EPSDT services, and school-linked behavioral health systems • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and EHR platforms (e.g., ECM, EPIC, or similar) • Demonstrated commitment to cultural humility, equity, and family-centered service Preferred: • Experience working with SFDPH, Juvenile Probation, or public mental health systems • Prior experience supporting clinical intake workflows and interdisciplinary care teams • Familiarity with local resources in San Francisco and San Mateo counties
