In this role, you will lead the implementation of positive behavior support programs, focusing on proactive strategies to enhance student behavior while also providing immediate assistance in crisis situations using established de-escalation techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement targeted interventions to support positive academic, social-emotional, and behavioral outcomes for assigned students.
- Reinforce positive behaviors, redirect negative actions, and model effective behavioral strategies.
- Maintain detailed records of behavior interventions and document progress effectively.
- Collect and analyze behavioral data to inform instructional practices with IEP teams.
- Provide support to classroom staff in monitoring student behaviors and conducting behavioral observations.
- Apply applied behavior analysis principles under the guidance of a board-certified behavior analyst.
- Assist teachers with instructional activities and classroom management.
- Respond to crisis situations with effective de-escalation techniques and maintain a safe learning environment.
- Document behavioral incidents and ensure compliance with organizational policies.
- Participate actively in team meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Help supervise students during school activities and support the overall safety of the school environment.
- Engage in special projects to enhance program quality and organizational effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, with the ability to pass a basic skills test.
- Associate's degree or higher in a related field is preferred.
- Experience working with children in special education or behavioral health settings is highly valued.
- Strong understanding of behavioral disorders and teaching strategies.
- Ability to remain composed in emergencies and make sound decisions independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with technology, including Microsoft Office Suite.
