Role Purpose: The Associate Engineer will complete routine engineering work and oversee minor engineering projects.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine or entry-level engineering tasks.

  • Contributes to the development of engineering plans and designs.

  • Investigates and analyzes new materials, equipment, and engineering practices.

  • Prepares engineering calculations, estimates, statistics, and minor designs.

  • Investigates and analyzes new materials, equipment, and engineering practices.

  • Studies test data and draw comparisons to similar designs or products.

  • Sets up and operates test equipment to evaluate performance of materials, prototype parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions, and records results.

  • Prepares internal test reports and presentations to the Engineering team.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated aptitude in prototype fabrication and laboratory equipment, including experience with typical physical test sample preparation and testing techniques.

  • Experience with 3D printing and scanning equipment and techniques (preferred).

  • Experience preparing engineering calculations, estimates, statistics, and minor designs.

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office software suite, with a focus on Excel programming.

  • Basic CAD model creation and modification skills (Autodesk Inventor preferred) and PLM system usage.

  • Ability to read and create engineering drawings using Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Experience in FEA modelling and applying FEA analysis results (preferred).

Work Environment

Office work and hands-on laboratory testing/ prototyping. No adverse environmental conditions expected, however PPE (steel toe footwear, safety glasses, etc.) must be worn in designated areas.

Physical Demands

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting at a desk for prolonged periods.

  • Occasionally moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.

  • Communicating with others to exchange information.

  • Occasionally operating machinery and/or power tools.

  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.

Position Type: Full time, day shift. Occasional overtime may be required.

Travel: Up to 10% travel.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree, (B.S.E.) in the appropriate discipline for the position.

  • Preferred: Two years of related experience (including internships).
