The Building People, LLC, has a position open for an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Program Manager who will be our primary representative and a self-motivated resource to help lead our rapidly expanding connected infrastructure division. Our team, which already includes a nationwide presence in Master Systems Integration across the federal environment, has opportunities to build and expand an industrial/metering controls department, making this position integral to leading innovative solutions within our larger MSI team architecture.

As a key member of our building technologies infrastructure team, the AMI Program Manager oversees a multimillion-dollar, multiyear program segmented into sub-projects for multiple customers across a national portfolio. Working closely with customers, vendors, and project personnel, the Program Manager ensures the proper delivery of the program, meeting financial performance targets, customer satisfaction, and project objectives. The candidate should have experience with, and maintain an understanding of, major commercial AMI software and platforms, leading strategies to integrate multiple disparate systems into those platforms. Additionally, a deep understanding of electrical and mechanical systems is required to direct strategies for locating metering hardware aligned with data and analytics use cases.

Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Fostering a positive project work environment and leading the team to achieve objectives on time and within budget
  • Developing project managers working on the program
  • Collaborating with engineering managers to identify resources, assemble project teams, and assign responsibilities
  • Implementing governance to track project progress and report on schedule, financials, and customer satisfaction
  • Maintaining risk assessments and mitigation plans
  • Managing escalations with customers and internally
  • Applying problem-solving techniques to address issues
  • Maintaining resource forecasts to ensure schedule compliance and desired results
  • Leading growth and profitability initiatives related to the program
  • Leading by example as a role model for project management

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Experience with Building Control and Industrial Control Systems, especially communication protocols and integration pathways
  • Experience with utility and metering software platforms
  • Minimum of 10 years in Building Technologies
  • Experience with building design and management of critical building systems
  • Experience conducting site visits and assessments at client facilities
  • Experience assessing energy infrastructure, including metering systems
  • Experience collaborating with various stakeholders such as customers, trade contractors, and inspectors
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to obtain a basic civilian security clearance

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Experience with building energy audits or facility condition assessments
  • Knowledge of environmental and energy regulations and standards
  • Experience with diverse project types and technologies
  • Experience working with federal agencies (EPA, GSA, DoD)
  • Ability to organize and facilitate technical meetings
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
